Delta State Police Foils Early Morning Attack on Police Station
An attempt to attack an Umutu Police Station, in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State foiled today after a fierce exchange of fire power between the Police and the attackers.
Armed men were reported to have arrived the police station about 1:30am shooting sporadically at the station but met stiff resistance as the men on guard duty put up a tough fight.
Confirming the incident the Delta State police Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police -DSP Bright Edafe said the intention of the attackers was to burn down the police station and steal arms and ammunition.
The ugly incident however claimed the lives of an Assistant Superintendent of Police -ASP who was said to have died in the hospital following complications from high blood pressure while two of the bandits where also gunned down by the police during the exchange of bullets
