Explosion in Ebonyi Not Suicide Bomber as Government, Police Confirms Victims Identity

The EBONYI State Government have described as false the news of a suspected suicide bomber’s attempt to bomb a school in Afikpo North Local Government Area of the State

The state government in a statement issued today by the Special Assistant to the Governor, Media and Publicity Francis Nwaze stated that the incident occurred when a security personnel carrying out his duties accidentally got the grenade he was carrying exploded.

Also confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ebonyi State Police command Loveth Odah have also identified the victim of the grenade explosion as a police officer Idi Aminu who was serving in the state.

The statement by the Ebonyi State government has however asked residents of the state to disregard as fake news describing it as the handiwork of enemies of the state who are bent on causing panic where none exists.
