Deby out, Deby in As Mahatma Replaces Late Father Idris In Chad
Republic of Chad has lost it’s president, Idriss Deby Itno after he succumbed to injuries sustained on the battlefield.
The unfortunate announcement was made by the army this morning, 20th April, 2021. This was just hours after the electoral commission of the republic of Chad had just declared him winner of the Aprill 11 presidential election making him become president for another 6 years after being in power for 30 years.
The demise of the 68 year old president was announced by army spokesman General Azem Bermandoa Agouna. He said Deby “has just breathed his last defending the sovereign nation on the battlefield” over the weekend. In a statement he read out on state television.

It was also reported that on Monday, he went to the frontlines to join the troops battling terrorists.
The circumstances surrounding the president’s death could not confirmed due to the remote location of the incident and it was also not known why the president would have visited the area or participated in ongoing clashes with rebels that were against him.

General Mahamat Kaka,
In addition, General Mahamat Kaka, A French trained four star general in the Chadian Army, who had previously served as the second in command of the Armed Forces for the Chadian Intervention in Northern Mali (FATIM) and who is also the son of the deceased Chadian president, Idriss Deby has been announced as the interim Head of the State of the country.
Army Spokesman, General Azem Bermandoa Agouna announced this after he had earlier announced the death of the president.
