Nigeria Police Discover Detention Centre, Rescues At Least 259 Persons In Ibadan

At least 259 persons were rescued on Monday by officers of the Oyo State Police Command at an illegal detention centre at a mosque in the Ojoo area of Ibadan.
The victims according to report, have been in chains for about 10 years.
Shina Olukola, the Oyo state Commissioner of Police who led the operation said the suspects were said to have claimed of possessing spiritual powers to cure disobedience and change the anti-social behaviours of people, especially the youths

Olukola said the police got a tip off from a 17year old boy who claimed to have escaped from one of the facilities located at Apata area of the state, but which had been evacuated before the police team got there.
The rescue operation was also witnessed by the Oyo state commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs Fausat Sanni.
