International Women’s Society Host Successful “Soup Kitchen” In Lagos
The International Women’s Society took charity work to another level on Saturday the 14th of September 2019 when the society successfully hosted a Soup kitchen at the International Women’s Society Skill Centre, Kilometre 15, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos. Nigeria.
The IWS under the able leadership of the energetic Mrs Nkoli Ogbolu left no stones unturned, ably assisted by Mrs Nike Bakare-Ajayi the head of the society’s social services department, volunteers, and all IWS members present. Past Presidents of the society were also on ground to support the “Soup Kitchen” initiative.
Women and men from within and outside the Lekki Community turned out in large numbers and on-time too, Then the heavens opened up and there was “showers of blessing”.
Interestingly the heavy downpour couldn’t dampen the morale of the IWS as the event commenced with the Registration process, then the Health Checks, With “over the counter drugs” dispensed to those who required them free of charge. And speaking of “free” there were lots of “free food, Drinks, Meat, Clothing, Food stuff e.t.c.
The Soup Kitchen was proudly supported by the Nestle, Coca-Cola Nigeria, Lost In Lagos, The Lebanese Ladies Society, Nigerian Breweries, St. Ives Specialist Hospital, RelianceHMO and Your Boom radio NG. Her Royal Highness Olori Sekinat Elegushi was also fully involved in the process of serving food during event.
In conclusion most of the participants of the IWS soup kitchen that spoke to our correspondents expressed their profound joy at the gesture of the society, while calling for more of such gestures from other societies and individuals.
