Federal High Court Remands Naira Marley In Prison Custody

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos,Nigeria has ordered the remand in prison custody of hip hop artist, Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley.
The accused is facing 11 counts according to the EFCC “bordering on cybercrime for allegedly conniving with Yad Isril (at large) to use Access card issued to other persons in a bid to obtain gain, an offence contrary to Section 27(1) (b) of the Cybercrime Prohibition, Prevention Act 2015.
Marley However Pleaded not guilty to all the charges filled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Trial Judge Justice Nicholas Oweibo then ordered his remand after his arraignment before the court .
The EFCC had filed the charge against him on Tuesday, May 14. The court has fixed May 30 for arguments on his application for bail.

The Commission had earlier announced the arrest of Afeez Fashola (aka Naira Marley) & Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael (aka Zlatan) in connection with alleged case of internet fraud & money laundering. The two musicians were arrested along with: “Tiamiu Abdulrahman Kayode, Adewunmi Adeyanju Moses and Abubakar Musa. Their arrest followed an early morning raid on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 9, Gbangbola Street, Ikate, Lekki, Lagos”
