Minimum Wage: Organised Labour Hails Senate, Task FG on Immediate Implementation
Leaders of Various Organised Labour Groups have commended the Nigerian Senate for Approving Thirty Thousand Naira (N30,000.00k) as the new minimum wage in Nigeria.
The Minimum wage debate a raged on for years in the country with Nigeria’s Labour Unions fighting for an increase in the minimum wage of the country from the current eighteen Thousand Naira (N18,000.00k) to as high as N50,000.00k.
The Federal Government on it’s part had proposed Twenty Seven Thousand Naira (N27,000.00k) as the new Minimum wage in Nigeria While the Senate’s decision is more or less a confirmation of the Federal House Of Representatives Decision who had earlier approved Thirty Thousand Naira (N30,000.00k) as the new minimum wage.
