PDP Condemns Arrest Of Senator Rufai Ibrahim
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the arrest of Senator Rufai Ibrahim.
The party in a statement demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the lawmaker and other party members that were arrested.
PDP believes that the suspects were framed-up and detained by the police.
The Main opposition party also described the arrest of Senator Ibrahim on the eve of Nigeria’s general elections as “provocative” while cautioning the police to stop harassing its members.
The PDP via it’s Twitter handle demanded the “immediate and unconditional release” it’s Kwara South Senatorial candidate, Senator Rufai Ibrahim and other members of the party, arrested and detained by the Nigeria Police in Kwara state.
The Nigeria police in Kwara State had earlier arrested senator and Eight others, for their alleged connection with the murder of two persons in Ojoku area of the state.
The Police PRO in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the said arrest revealed that to Senator Ibrahim who represents Kwara South district and the others were arrested on Thursday.
Okasanmi said the suspects were arrested following the violence that broke out at the campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) organised by the party’s senatorial candidate, Lola Ashiru.
He confirmed that the lawmaker was invited for questioning on the allegations of being the mastermind of the attack.
