BoomRadioNG | January 26, 2019

The US and UK governments has warned that it will not hesitate to consider imposing sanctions including visa restrictions – for those found to be responsible for election-related violence or undermining the democratic process in the 2019 general elections.

The governments of the two countries in a statement yesterday, said close attention will be paid to actions of individuals who interfere in the democratic process or instigate violence against the civilian population before, during, or after the elections.

While pledging their support for a genuinely free, fair, transparent, and peaceful electoral process, the two countries welcomed the signing of peace pledges by Nigerian candidates and their commitment to a peaceful electoral process.
