Former President Shehu Shagari Dies At 93

Nigeria’s former President Alhaji Shehu Shagari is dead. His demise was today announced by his grandson Via twitter.

Alhaji Shagari Started out as a Teacher before making a foray into politics. He served in several positions before becoming the number one citizen as a candidate of the now defunct National People’s Party NPN.

President Shehu Shagari was President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 1979 to 1983. His second tenure was truncated by a military coup that brought Nigeria’s Current number one citizen President Muhammadu Buhari to power in 1984.

Shagari passed away today in Abuja after a brief illness, born on February the 25th, 1925 he was aged 93 at the time of death.

His family as also announced that the remains of the former Nigerian President will be buried tomorrow according Islamic rights.
