2019 Election: Atiku, others absent at signing of peace accord

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2019 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, was absent at the signing of Peace Accord among all presidential candidates for the elections.
The event which was organised by the National Peace Committee headed by former Head of State, Retired General Abdulsalami Abubakar is an undertaking by all the presidential candidates to ensure peaceful and rancour-free campaigns before, during and after the 2019 general elections.

The candidates are also expected to avoid hate speech, fake news or any act capable of causing socio-political unrest in the country.
Abubakar also appealed to all participants to endeavour to stick to the contents of the pact they signed adding that signing of the document will not achieve anything except parties concerned follow the rules as outlined in the document.
The event which had in attendance the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress President Muhammadu Buhari and some presidential candidates from various parties was also graced by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu among others.

Asides Atiku, other presidential candidates who were absent include;Donald Duke of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Kingsley Moghalu of Young Progressives Party (YPP), Oby Ezekwesili of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) and Omoyele Sowore of African Action Congress (AAC).
