Trump Plans Executive Order To End US Birthright Citizenship

President Donald Trump says he plans to end “birthright citizenship” in the US by executive order.

In an interview with “axios on HBO” Trump claimed that he was working on an end to birthright citizenship, the 150-year-old principle that says anyone born on US soil is an American citizen.

“How ridiculous, we’re the only country in the world where a person comes in, has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for 85 years with all of those benefits,” Trump said. “It’s ridiculous. It’s ridiculous. And it has to end.”

The US President told Axios he has talked with White House counsel about the executive order, and it is “in process… It’ll happen.”

Trump’s latest comments on immigration come ahead of next week’s midterm election.
